Washington D.C. has no shortage of Mexican eateries available, but if you're looking for some authentic Mexican cuisine in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of the city, check out Mezcalero. Located just under four miles from 77H apartments, Mezcalero is the brainchild of Chef Alfredo Solis and his sister Jessica, who hail from Mexico and aim to bring true Mexican flavor to the people of the District. The restaurant opened just two months ago, and has already garnered a loyal following among locals.
The restaurant is small, nestled among a strip of others on 14th Street NW. Inside, Mezcalero is fun and bright, with exposed brick walls with sections covered in colorful, hand-painted murals. The menu features a lot of the dishes you’d expect, including fish tacos, freshly-made guacamole and a selection of ceviches. Street-style tacos, burritos and enchiladas are just some of the stars of the menu, which is likely to have something to please every palate.
